UV Umbrella Meets Elegant Design

Hi,
I’m Marion, the founder of Sunbarry, and I’ll admit it right away: Keeping up with full sun protection isn’t always easy for me, especially when it comes to hands, hair, and the neckline.
Creating Sunbarry has been a true passion project. These chic umbrellas are easy to carry and provide instant shade and UV protection exactly when needed.
I truly hope you enjoy this little helper as much as I do. ♥

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Sunbarry better than other UV umbrellas?
We put extensive research and product testing into finding UPF 50+ materials that combine certified protection with an elegant look.
Our umbrellas feature specially selected dense fabric layers and an added vinyl coating for dependable UV protection. In addition to UPF 50+ certification, all Sunbarry models are tested according to REACH-SVHC and CP65 standards to ensure they contain no prohibited toxins.
A closer look at the market shows that many products are not tested at all.
When did tanned skin become a beauty ideal?
For centuries, fair skin was associated with elegance and high social status. That changed in the 1920s, when Coco Chanel reportedly returned from the French Riviera with accidentally sun-kissed skin after forgetting her umbrella. She wore the new look confidently and helped turn tanning into a beauty ideal.
However, medically, tanning is not a sign of health. It is the skin’s response to UV damage. That is why modern sun care is shifting back toward better UV protection, healthier skin, and a more conscious relationship with the sun.
Why shouldn’t you rely on sunscreen alone?
Sunscreen is an important part of everyday sun protection, but it does not always cover everything equally and needs to be reapplied regularly.
A lightweight umbrella adds portable shade and extra protection for face, hair, hands, and neckline, especially on very sunny days when direct sun exposure feels just too intense.
Why does the fabric have some creasing?
The UPF 50+ fabric we use is specially coated for sun protection. Because of its density and finish, slight creasing may occur. This is completely normal and does not affect the umbrella’s performance. It is actually a sign of how protective the material really is.
Can Sunbarry be used as a rain umbrella too?
Yes. While Sunbarry umbrellas are designed primarily for sun protection, they also handle light rain (and snow) with ease and are perfect for unexpected summer showers.
Please note that they are not made for strong wind or stormy weather. They are elegant everyday helpers, not storm gear.
